The lobby was beautiful and the front desk staff friendly and polite. They were also very welcoming. When we checked in the lobby had a strong oil paint scent that was really hard to deal with but the grandeur of the it was magical. Our room on the other hand was dirty. It was our anniversary so we asked for the rose petals and chocolate add on and we were also travelling with our baby and asked for a cot. All of which were provided. The fake rose petals looked so tacky and thoughtless, I can't comment on the chocolate because I was so annoyed I didn't even try it. The base boards and mouldings and the toilet tank was so filled with dust you could write your name in it. As a result we didn't use the cot and opted to spend most of our time outside the hotel. We contacted the property but no one replied to date. The fan was so dusty it had clumps of dust falling off it when turned on and being an older hotel no ac in room. The fan would be great as it would have done the job in the evening. We booked it because of it's charm and it missed the mark completely. We have videos and photos. It almost spoilt our whole trip. It's our 6th or so time in Wales and to date, this is the worst bit for us. We did make a complaint at the front desk and also messaged the hotel. No response yet. We didn't bother to try and breakfast and all because we thought if what we have to see upclose was so messy what happens where we can't see.

The hotel in its day would have been amazing but today it needs some TLC on the grounds and in the rooms. The staff are nice and helpful but the grounds which are so lovely just let it down which is a shame

It was nice and clean, the room was incredibly spacious and it was a convenient location to lots of shops and eateries.
